Pupil participation

The school aims to encourage a sense of belonging for all children. There are many opportunities for children to take on roles and responsibilities throughout their time at the school in order for them to understand what it is to belong to a community and be a good citizen. Pupil participation is also encouraged through themed days which aim to raise money for charities across the world.

School council

The school council is elected each year and sits to discuss issues that any member of the school community wants to raise. Children from all Year groups are represented and they are coordinated by a member of staff.

Eco Council

Our Eco Council meets on a regular basis to discuss environmental issues that concern the whole school community. The school has achieved silver status and is currently working towards Green Flag status. The Eco Council have successfully brought about changes in natural lighting throughout the school and recycling plastics and food waste.

Prefects are selected by the Headteacher and apply for the post at the beginning of the academic year. They are chosen to represent the school because of their exemplary behaviour, maturity and leadership qualities. Prefects have several responsibilities including showing prospective parents around the school and giving them a child’s viewpoint of the school.

When children begin at Woodmancote they are assigned a House. They ‘belong’ to this house throughout their seven years at the school. Our Houses are Malvern, Nottingham, Cleeve and Leckhampton. Children can earn House points throughout the week and the winning House each week receives a ‘scroll’.

House points can also be earned through the various Inter-House competitions throughout the year. There are six competitions altogether and include a Spelling Bee, Cake Competition, Quiz and Talent Show. The winning House each year is presented with the Governor’s Cup.
