On Wednesday 21st September, Years 4, 5 and 6 had the opportunity to Megan Rix, children’s author. Megan’s books are always based around heroic animals, from war time parachute dogs to King Charles II pampered Spaniel. We met Megan’s beautiful 8 month old retriever, Freya, who showed us a few of her new tricks, and learnt about how Freya and Megan’s other dogs have featured in her writing.

We also heard about Megan’s writing process, which was inspirational to many budding young authors among us, as well as how working with assistance dogs for many years has encouraged her to become an author to tell the stories of these wonderful animals.

We listened to an extract from her new book, The Great Fire Dogs, and children were able to buy the book as well as have it signed.
