Year 5 Kinball Festival
Recently, two teams took part in a Kinball Festival against eight other teams from the Cleeve Cluster group of schools. The children were playing a brand new sport that they had only received coaching for in one PE lesson. It involves three teams of four trying to catch a large inflatable ball. Points are awarded to the other teams when the nominated team drops the ball! Despite the inexperience, ALL the children gave their best and certainly improved their skills, tactics and teamwork as the afternoon went by. The teams didn’t make the semi-finals but a GREAT afternoon was had by all. Well done Kinballers!
Year 3/4 New Age Kurling Competition
On Thursday 5th December, four children, from the four classes in Year 3 & 4, competed against twelve other Cheltenham Primary school teams in a New Age Kurling competition organised by MoveMore. This new sport is just like the curling seen at the Winter Olympics but it’s played on a hard surface with ‘stones’ on castors! Our team, who had not played this before made a formidable team. After seven matches, their teamwork, determination and skills got them through to the 3rd/4th playoff match! After great play by ALL the team, Woodmancote won and took third place overall. They were delighted to receive their bronze medals and were a credit to our school. Well done Kurlers!
