Home » Multi Use Games Area (MUGA) Project Update
The project went very smoothly throughout the summer and the different stages were exciting to see:
Since returning to school in September the children have been making great use of the MUGA, being given the opportunity to participate in a great range of sports including hockey, netball and football, as well as a whole host of games and activities during breaktimes.
This amazing addition to the school could not have happened without the tremendous support of our school community, and local businesses, who were kind enough to sponsor the project. All of the following contributed to making the Woodmancote School MUGA happen!

Cotteswold Dairy is an independent family business established in 1938 and now in the 4th generation. Our purpose is to be ‘at the heart of a responsible and sustainable dairy community’ and we are proud to work closely with our local farmers, staff and community, managing every step of the milk journey from collection from our local farms, to processing, distribution and delivery direct to the doorstep.
We are pleased to support local charities and community projects when we can, and we felt the MUGA facility at Woodmancote School was a worthy cause to donate to as it will enable the local children to enjoy fresh air and fitness all year round, which is so important for their physical and mental health.
Tesco’s Community Grants scheme has already awarded over £96 million to more than 46,000 projects across Britain. Tesco customers get the chance to vote for three different groups every time they shop. Every three months, when votes are collected, three groups in each of Tesco’s regions will be awarded funding.
Our local community did an amazing job of ensuring the tokens were stacked high every week of the campaign! We await the result as to whether we came in 1st, 2nd or 3rd place.
Sponsored Swim
Thank you to all the children from the Woodmancote swim club who raised £1,035 for our MUGA. They worked very hard swimming lots of lengths in their swimathon and feel proud to have raised funds for something they cannot wait to enjoy at school.
Well done to Isabella, Lachlan, Thomas, Jiya, Erin, Megan, Kimberley, Francesca, Jacob, Ezra and Arthur who all participated in the fundraiser. A special shout out to Libby who won a prize for raising the most sponsorship money £80, a great effort.
Anyone wishing to go on the waiting list for Woodmancote swim club or wanting private 1-2-1 lessons should contact Tracy Murphy whose contact details can be obtained from the school office.
Crowdfunder
Current families of school and preschool children, and other members of the local community, were incredibly generous in donating to our Crowdfunder. Here are some of the messages of support we also received during the crowdfunder.
“A great opportunity for the school which will no doubt be enjoyed by all”
“What a great initiative. Sport is so important to children’s wellbeing and this will give the children an opportunity to play sports all year around!”
“Any opportunity to encourage our children to enjoy becoming active is a must and I support this on behalf of my Grandchildren and Woodmancote pupils future and current.”
“Great idea!”
“Good luck on reaching your target”
