In Reception we have been learning about Antarctica. We have been exploring how very different the continent of Antarctica is to where we live in Woodmancote. We have learnt about the different weather and the clothes we would need to visit the Antarctic . we also have learnt about Antarctic animals . We really enjoyed making models of penguins, seals and orcas out of clay .
Our penguins got stuck in some ice! We explored how the penguin toys might have got stuck, deciding that they must have been put in some water and then put somewhere very cold so that the water froze to make ice. It was great fun exploring the ice and how it melted in our classroom.
In maths we have been learning about capacity. We have been practising using words like full, empty, half full to describe our containers. We had fun playing with water and with rice, filling up and emptying our cups and containers.
